FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about source support, quality, formats, access and temporary processing.

Does maximum quality always download 4K?

No. Maximum quality means the best stream offered by the source. Extractor selects 4K only when a 4K stream is available.

What does Compatible MP4 do?

It prioritises MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio when available, with fallbacks when the source does not provide that exact combination.

Why can a maximum-quality file be much larger?

Higher resolution, bitrate, frame rate and audio quality require more data. Maximum quality avoids destructive conversion merely to make the file smaller.

Which websites are supported?

Extractor supports major social and video platforms, direct media files, HLS, DASH and other public pages recognised by its extraction engine. Individual URLs can still be unavailable.

Can Extractor download private or DRM-protected media?

No. Private, account-restricted, encrypted or DRM-protected media may not be accessible and Extractor is not designed to bypass those protections.

Where is the final file saved?

The browser normally saves the file in its configured Downloads folder or asks where to save it, depending on browser settings.

Are prepared files kept permanently?

No. Files are prepared in temporary storage, removed after successful delivery and also covered by scheduled stale-folder cleanup.

What should I do when a URL fails?

Confirm that the URL is public and accessible, then retry. A platform change, regional restriction, deleted post or unavailable format can prevent extraction.
